How many students are in each class?
Each class should have a minimum of 4 enrolled students. The maximum number of students allowed in a class is 10 for our precious gems classes, 12 for our acrobatic tumbling classes, and 15 for all other styles, to provide an appropriate teacher-to-student ratio. If multiple students are absent and the class occupancy for the day is 2 students or less, the class will be shortened to 45 minutes for that day, or to 30 minutes if the original class is 45 minutes. Classes that are under enrollment numbers are subject to closure.
Do I need previous experience?
All levels are welcome at Rising Heights Dance! From first time in a studio to experienced performer, we are confident we have a class for you! Our studio offers level and age based classes for new beginning and advanced students! See our dance studio journey below and reach out if you have placement questions!

Can I stay and watch my students class?
Parents are welcome to drop their student off and pick them up at the end of class. If you choose to stay we ask that all parents watch from the lobby cameras. During the end of class we will periodically invite parents to come in and watch the last 5 minutes. This is a great time to get pictures and videos.
What to do if my student is sick?
We ask that any student who is feeling unwell remain home for the safety of other students and staff. Please contact the studio as soon as possible to notify us if you will be absent. Classes are not refunded due to absences, but with appropriate notice to the office, makeup classes are available.
Will classes be cancelled due to holidays or weather?
Rising Heights Dance has the entire year of closures listed in our yearly calendar and our studio newsletter. If our studio needs to close due to weather, closures will be notified via email as well as posted on our social media. The studio will schedule a makeup option for those affected by weather related studio closures.
Can I get a copy of the Recital Handbook?
How do I care for my students costumes?
Costumes will be distributed the week after spring break, or once the studio receives costumes for each student in the class (if costumes have not arrived by spring break). Costumes will be tried on and a teacher will ensure proper fit. Once the costume is brought home it is to be worn for picture day and performances ONLY until the dance season is completely finished. Costumes should be kept neat and tidy in a costume bag. Tutus and longer skirts should be hung upside down by interior leotards to keep their shape. All costume pieces (ie. headbands, arm pieces, hair clips) should kept in a small plastic bag or cosmetic bag and connected to the hanger. Tights should remain unused until pictures and performance to prevent runs or stains (it is helpful to purchase a second pair to ensure no runs or stains). Dance shoes will be the same as worn in class, and should not be worn outside at any time.
How should I do my student's hair and makeup for the recital?
Check out the handbook for a breakdown of how each class should have their hair and makeup styled! You can also find our YouTube Tutorial Playlist HERE.
What should I send with my child to the recital?
All children must bring a clearly labeled bag with extra hair spray, gel, hair elastics, bobby pins, and safety pins.
Your makeup must also be packed and clearly labeled as well as your dance shoes, tights, socks and extra clothing. Students in the junior show or under 10 years old should not bring makeup bags, but arrive ready to perform. Don’t forget your costume! These are best hung on provided hangers and protected in a costume bag that is clearly labeled.
FOOD AND DRINK - Costumes are easily ruined by food and drink stains. Students are not permitted to leave the backstage area so please pack enough food and drink for the entire time. It is important that snacks are nutritious to keep their energy up as well as something that won’t stain – this means NO fast food, dips and chips, chocolate, messy treats etc. They also need to bring labeled water – NO soft drinks or juice as it stains the costumes. This is for both the rehearsal and recital. *THE VENUE MAY NOT ALLOW FOOD & DRINK- IF THIS HAPPENS WE WILL NOTIFY PARENTS AND YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS WELL FED PRIOR TO DROP OFF AND PLAN TO SIGN THEM OUT AND FEED THEM IN BETWEEN SHOWS (bring a spare set of clothes to change or throw over their costume while eating)
Children are discouraged from bringing any valuables including phones, iPods, iPads and laptops as the venue and Rising Heights Dance will not take responsibility for any items lost, damaged or stolen during events. Some backstage entertainment (G rated movie, coloring, games) will be offered through parent volunteers during the show. If you would like to volunteer at recital, please email the studio!
